It's so
Despite my prediction they would choke, the Chicago White Sox have won the World Series. Congratulations to them.
As a rooter for the Chicago Cubs, I'm supposed to be bitter, angry, and defiant. But I'm not. I'm happy for the Sox. I'm happy for the fans. I'm happy for Chicago. It's a good time to be a baseball fan in Chicago.
The thing that blows my mind the most is the sheer length of time between championships for the White Sox. 88 years. Three of my four grandparents hadn't even been born the last time they won. That's a really long time!
So, I extend my congratulations to the Sox and their fans. I know a couple of people who are not going to be able to stop smiling for a very long time. I hope they enjoy it.
As for me, there's always Next Year.

Even though I hate Ozzie Guillen and many of the White Sox players more than anything else in the world, I am also happy for the fans and the city of Chicago. That was one unbelievable playoff run.
First the Red Sox and then the White Sox. If this new trend keeps up next year it will be the Cubs or Indians!!!! That would make me happy.

The ineptitude gap between the Cubs and the rest of the league has widened dramatically during the past two years. Before 2004, Cub apologists could say "Yeah, the Cubs haven't won since 1908, but the Red Sox ('18) and White Sox ('17) have gone nearly as long as the Cubs."
So much for that argument. Next in line is the Indians ('54).

I was happy for the Sox fans at first also. Then one of them decided to pick on Biggio's wife, and I remembered how much I can't stand Sox fans, so I truly hoped they would choke. They didn't, which means I have to suffer through a year of abnormally cocky, yet still completely retarded, Sox fans.
